Job Description:

The Executive Director is the chief administrative officer of the Tullahoma Area Chamber of Commerce and of the Creating Education Opportunities (C.E.O.) program. This person oversees the administration, planning, membership, public relations and liaison functions of the organization. The Executive Director reports to the TACC Executive Committee. In addition the Executive Director works in partnership with the Mayor and other city officials.

TACC Duties and Responsibilities:

~Manage administrative staff and provide general supervision in directing and coordinating activities. Establish objectives, conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend salary adjustments for each employee.

~Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. Ensure that TACC activities are effectively planned and implemented.

~Recruit and retain membership at a level that ensures the necessary revenue, based on the annual budget, for the operation of the organization. Motivate members to personally and financially support TACC and its objectives. Discern the needs of members, recommend programs and maintain awareness of the value of membership. Regular face-to-face visits with members and potential members. Lead in identifying and securing revenue generating opportunities that provide benefits to the members.

~Generate community interest and support through public contact and educate the public about the purpose and function of the organization. Market TACC and its activities through contact with members and local associations and participation in community events. Coordinate and oversee all publicity including conducting local TV interviews or commercials, provide written articles to area newspapers on Chamber happenings and monthly newsletter.

~Attend Board of Directors meetings as a non-voting member, while participating and presenting at these meeting. Maintain continuity and consistency of programming under the direction of the Executive Board and Board of Directors, some of whose members change annually. Anticipate problems and challenges and recommend TACC and community programs that may provide solutions.

~Develop and Enhance government and community participation by building partnerships with appropriate governmental entities and area chambers to build coalitions in support of the Chamber’s mission.

~Recruit businesses to partner with Tullahoma City School system through CEO program. Confer with school principals and business representatives to set a level of partnership participation for the school year and monitor partnership activities. Compile a summary report of CEO activities for the TCS Superintendent.

~Promotion of Tullahoma businesses to tourists through promotional efforts.
Spearhead monthly Chamber Coffee meetings and assumes lead role in formatting.


Qualifications:

~Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to effectively communicate with a variety of individuals with diverse backgrounds, education, economic, economic levels and roles within the community or organization.

~Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. Demonstrate strong presentation skills and ability to facilitate both large and small group presentation.

~Strong proficiency in sales and marketing.

~Ability to manage, organize, plan and implement a variety of projects simultaneously.

~Supervisory and leadership experience preferred.

~Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.

~Willingness to work flexible forty hour work weeks, including nights and weekends as circumstances dictate.

~Access to reliable personal vehicle for job-related travel.

~Must be able to work proficiently with computers, software and other office equipment.

~Ability to work in a flexible fast-paced and varied work environment.

~Ability to satisfactorily pass a criminal background check.

~Strong character and integrity.

~Ability to conduct media interviews promoting the chamber and its events with excellent public speaking skills.
